Are libraries vegetables?

Ok, fine I will take you seriously. And, in a way, they are not only a vegetable, they are like anything else alive. They grow steadily and sometimes, they die because they are either taken apart (like a human body decomposes). I see what you are saying. They also have a vast amount of knowlegde and stories as if they had a mind of their own. They have opinions and things like that. So they are not vegetables, they are creatures with a brain.
