Where does it explicitly say in the Bible that Jesus died to pay the penalty we owed God for our sins?

In John 6 Christ tells us that the taking of His body and blood in sacrifice is the only way to have everlasting life. He doesn't mean anything cannibalistic here. He is saying that His body and His blood comes from God. In fact, Christ is God's "declared" Incarnated Being.
