Overdose penalties help please?

My friend overdosed last night. He's 22. He was sent to the hospital. And we went today and I have no clue what's gunna happen there was a cop in the room but idk if it was for him or the other person. Like he really overdosed I'm surprised he lived. Is their penalties like jail or rehab??? It was somas. Like ALOT. Is money involved, jail??? Help!
